Exit the doorway. The patterns of life. Light leaks in darkness. The rhythm of textures. Concrete supporting the ripples of our thoughts.
Dreams + Drugs = A Drain

We suffered a loss today at avellanas. many hands went to work to keep Randy with us but God had a different plan. We live and learn. we pray for his wife to find comfort.
Today is Sunday. In a few hours, I will congregate with friends, on the second floor of the Tiki, and hear about the Word. I will have a panoramic view of the ocean. Mother, Mother Ocean. I will have one ear tuned and one eye glued ~ to the swell.
Last Friday, my husband and I became part of a rescue. Randy, was a great surfer, a life long New England fisherman and a friend of the ocean. But it all turned on him and in ~ what seemed ~ a very long ~ instant. He was gone. Continue reading Unbroken
ORIGIN early 17th cent.: modern Latin, from musculus latissimus dorsi, literally ‘broadest muscle of the back.’
I like this photo. Not because the waves is huge and surfer is in the “money shot”, but because of his muscles. I admire how his lats are stressed and defined. Surfers have great bodies. Continue reading Lats
Did I hear you use the Lord’s name in vain? You son of a sheep dog.
Don’t you know, there are Sisters of the Square Chairs present.
Their newly Virginized ears are scorched, by your heathen language.
Yes, we were once dregs and sluts, but now we are of the non-denominational, New Order of the – No, Alcohol was not our Problem, Joy Club. Continue reading Holy Higher Power
1. He loves me, regardless of my weight. He makes me feel beautiful.
2. He does not mind my wrinkles.
3. He takes good care of me.
4. He’s cute.
5. He supports me in my endeavors.
6. He is good to my family.
7. He always makes sure I have a car that runs.
Thirty-one years ago, I met this man. No one else compares. Another thirty-one years would be great.
He’s a KEEPER….
To me.
Would you like for this to be your stove. Probably not. Would you want to live in a five hundred square foot house. Probably not. Would you really want to leave your culture behind and learn another language to survive. Probably not. Would you be OK with an occasional snake or scorpion in your house. Probably not. Would you drive a thirty year old car and work to keep it running, on outrageously rough roads. Probably not.
My life is nice. It’s customized. Continue reading Must Be Nice
Here I am, waking up in this foreign land. Three weeks ago, I was settled in my casita; making my life, building new and mending what has been tattered and torn.
A phone call changed everything. A fall changed everything. My eighty-two year old father-in-law, sounded weak. We knew we had to go home. Home, to our other home. The tickets, the TSA, the missed beats in my rhythm. The changing of tunes.
He’s no longer with us now.
One day that will be me. None of us get out of life alive.
We wake up in one dream, we sleep, and we wake in another.
Over and over and over and over and over ~
Don’t tell anyone, but ten years ago today, I was on a trip in Mexico. I was doing my usual thing, wandering off from everyone and everything. I was inhaling hot sun and exhaling residual U.S. toxins. One of my favorite pastimes. I was admiring the cactus. I was a little nervous; on edge. I felt alone.
I mean really alone. I felt as existential as a roadside chicken.
Then I saw it. There at my feet was a piece of cloth; worn burlap. It appeared to be something buried. I squatted and began to dig. My mind said, walk away, this is trash. What are you doing? But I couldn’t stop. My curiosity had me.
And I’m so glad I didn’t, because what I found was gold. An actual buried gold brick. What! Continue reading Dumb Questions
