I just looked up Diogenes, but I couldn’t find the quote – I always loved it. It applies to your weigh in. Diogenes searched for the honest man. ( Honest and humble being synonyms; to be no more or less than what you are. )Diogenes, who was called a cynic and forever in the search of truth, was hunting for an honest man. He had his light, scowering the alley ways, when he heard Socrates say ~ Diogenes I can see your arrogance through the holes in your clothes. That was a profound statement in my life. I’m sure I didn’t get the story exactly correct, but now I’m inspired to do a bit more reading on it. Thanks – we live and learn, hopefully. That why I said, it’s personal.
An argument could be made that humility is just another method humans have found in their perversity, for showing off.
