No matter where we stand good exists and evil lurks. We are powerless.
On the surface of this photo is a small wave breaking. If you look at the bottom of the photo, you will see a crocodile. We crossed paths that day. Me, being blissfully unaware of his presence, until I came home and downloaded my photos.
I have returned to the U.S. and have encountered one debacle following another.
It seems as if there are hidden threats at every turn; traveling in the airport, or on the highway in my truck. Using a debit credit card any where, is an invitation for theft. The government looms, with threats and loop holes, concerning health insurance and land ownership, assessments and taxes. People lie to you, when it would be just as easy to tell the truth.
I can convince myself, that because of my passivity, and that this croc probably viewed himself in the reflective port, of my waterhousing; he chose to move on.
But the truth of the matter is, he could have just as easily killed me, and the only comment people would express was, “she sure was stupid”.
Here we have a majestic wave, that I sought out. It traveled for miles, to end its life, directly in my view. It has the power to mesmerize, and bring joy. Then there is the deadly teeth and cold stare, of the reptile, seeking me out. It has the power to attack and kill me in an instant, thrashing in a pool of blood. Which one am I going to focus on?
They are forever side by side.
